The UK is the easy one, and people still overpay
Among major destinations, the UK is the most straightforward for a Pakistani applicant, for one reason: there is no sworn translator register.
Italy wants a traduzione giurata. Germany wants a beeidigter Übersetzer. Spain, Poland, and the Netherlands each maintain their own registers, and none of them admits a Pakistani translator. The UK asks about the certification wording instead — and that is something we can meet.
So the barrier that blocks us on half of Europe does not apply here.
What UKVI actually asks for
UKVI guidance asks that a translated document be a full translation, accompanied by certification stating:
- Confirmation that it is an accurate translation of the original
- The date of the translation
- The translator’s full name and contact details
Wording that omits any of those three is the usual reason a UK translation gets queried. It is not about a stamp or a status; it is about the statement being complete.

The question worth asking first
Do you need a translation at all?
UKVI requires translation only of documents not in English or Welsh. And most Pakistani universities issue degrees and transcripts in English already.
This is where most money is wasted on UK files. People send a full academic set for translation when the degree, the transcript, and the DMC are all English documents that need attested copies at most.
What genuinely tends to need translating for a UK file:
- Nikah Nama and marriage documents
- NADRA birth certificates, where not bilingual
- Older board certificates issued in Urdu
- Police character certificates
- Affidavits and legal deeds
- Bank documents from smaller institutions

Admission and visa are two checklists

They are separate processes with separate document rules. A university may accept certified copies at admission while the visa stage asks for something different. Read both, early, and note where they differ.
